The Spanish Dialect of Mexico
Mexico City Spanish is different from the Espanol of other Mexican states, and both differ from the Spanish of el Norte. Mexico’s severe social and economic problems erupted in a revolution that lasted from 1910-20 and gave rise to the 1917 constitution. The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), formed in 1929 under a different name, emerged from the chaos of revolution as a vehicle for keeping political competition among a coalition of interests in peaceful channels. Mexico’s most popular sport is football. According to this Rocket Spanish review, it is commonly believed that football was introduced in Mexico by Cornish miners at the end of the 19th century.
